Pearls of Wisdom: Tools for Better Living
Learn effective approaches to counseling that can be applied to every client you see. These approaches are not taught in graduate school.
Purpose: To educate counselors about effective counseling techniques.
Content: 1. The difference between anger and rage. Why anger management doesn't work.
2. Using a framework of “parts” to explain contradictory thoughts, feelings and behavior. This is an approach developed from Jungian and Gestalt orientations.
3. The role of shame in the development of parts and how to approach healing that shame.
Format: A combination of didactic and experiential teaching styles will be used.
Learning objectives:
1. To expand the counselor's knowledge of counseling approaches.
2. To facilitate an integration of these techniques into one's practice
3. To explore the counselor's own beliefs and biases as they pertain to the counseling relationship.
