Ch. Chesaroo Zoe
We researched many breeds of dogs to find the perfect family companion. Good disposition was essential since our dog would be in the constant company of our three children and all of their visiting friends. We needed a tolerant yet not promiscuously friendly dog. Chessies fit the bill. The next step was to locate a breeder. We called local veterinarians for references and searched the internet until we found Chesaroo Kennels in the snowy Berkshires. That's how Zoe joined our family.

Littermates
Playmate and Zoe, 9 weeks

Zoe has exceeded all of our expectations, and has become a wonderful guardian and family companion. When she was a puppy we think she saw the boys as extended littermates because all rolled on the floor together and played exhaustive games of tacitly reciprocal tag. Everyone knew the rules without a word spoken!

Now an adult, Zoe still plays with the children, but takes her job very seriously. In fact, her watch has expanded to include our neighbors' homes, where she visits regularly with both canine, feline, and human friends.

Zoe is athletic and loves to join in any ball sports her boys play, which means we go through lots of footballs, tennis balls, soccer- and basketballs.

A true Chessie, swimming is likely her favorite sport as she indefatigably retrieves sticks from ponds or lakes and hikes with family. Originally, Chessies were bred to hunt water fowl, and they remain versatile for hunt and home.
