Pictures, Updates and Info

Here are two new additions to the Ridgewood Farm Family--these guys are PMU Rescues! They are both registered Quarter Horses and are virtually unhandled--they've lived in a herd all their lives.. Watch this website as we progress with the training of these guys.

July 2004--Both Monty and Diego (formerly known as Jack) are halter broke and living in stalls. Monty was gelded and had his feet trimmed and Diego learned to "Join Up" with Suzan and was soon on his way to being handled. They are progressing nicely with their ground training--new pictures soon!

November 2004--It has been a very rewarding summer and early fall with these two guys. Monty has not stopped growing and is a typical feisty young guy. He now clips, bathes, loads!, and lunges. We decided to let him grow up a bit, so he is hanging out in the field with his buddies Cloudy and Diego, but just wait until Spring...

Diego has made huge progress over the last four months. Suzan used a combination of Monty Roberts and Clinton Anderson techniques to start him on his ground training. Within two months, they had progressed to the start of saddling and backing, and on September 1, Suzan rode him for the first time! Since then, they have participated in their first clinic, with Dan Kuhn of Natural Horse-man Services (more on Dan below), held at Ridgewood Farm, and Diego was a star... see the new pictures below.

Spring 2006--We're proud to say that, having given Diego a rock-solid foundation, he has gone on to a new career as a potential roping horse. Good luck Joey and Paul!
Monty will start up again this spring with Suzan. Last fall he was long-lining beautifully and had even been backed a few times, so look here for updates soon!

Dan Kuhn of Natural Horse-man Services, recently held a two-day clinic at Ridgewood Farm and we look forward to a continued partnership with Dan in 2005, when he will return for at least two clinics. Dan specializes in "Problem Evaluation and Solutions" in addition to delivering natural horsemanship clinics. Visit his website through the link below. (www.naturalhorsemanservices.com)

These two horses became available through New York Horse Rescue,  a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit horse charity that helps in finding all breeds of unwanted horses new homes. New PMU foal adoptions begin soon! Visit their website at the link below. (www.nyhr.org)
