Going Under
The
stories on this page all belong to the same universe pairing
Billy Tallent from Hard Core Logo with Tim Bayliss from Homicide:
Life on the Street. Going
Under is the first piece of fan fiction I ever finished. And at this point, I've got twenty years
of these guys' lives, spread out in all the stories below.
The complete set of Going Under stories, minus Coda,
but including Billie's
Story, has been released as a two-zine set from Angel
Wings Press, with artwork from Rusty. You can order
it from Lionheart Distribution here, and you
can see what the covers look like here and here.
One
more note--if you're thinking I go a little over the top with
my creation of (fictional) Church Canyon, Utah, I suggest
you read Jon Krakauer's book Under the Banner of Heaven:
A Story of Violent Faith. I lived in the Arizona Strip for a year
and a half, folks. Church
Canyon may be fictional, but it could easily be real.
Going
Under (2001)
"Jesus,
what's gotten into me? Focus on the job, Bayliss, not on the
guitarist." First slash I ever wrote.

have never cursed in front of my mother, and she flinches
with each profanity, tears running down her cheeks."

State
Secrets (2001) PWP set at an indeterminate
time between Comfort Food and Moving On.
My
Own Personal Groupie (2001) An unbeta'd PWP in response to a 100
line challenge on Schism.
Moving
On (2001)
"His
body's getting stronger every day, but lately I can't help
but think of him as fragile in some indefinable way."

Angst
and Fucking in Western Canada (May '02) "'We've got two weeks until we go
home, Tim, two fucking weeks, and you're going to take some
time to face your fear, your anger, whatever the fuck else
is going on between you and your leg.'"
Punks,
A Mouse, and Hedwig (Aug. '02) "It's a good gig. The best I've had."
The
Moment of Awakening (Aug. '02) My attempt to merge cliche and Buddhism,
which worked better than expected. Tim hits his head.
Sarah's
New Recipe (Oct. '02) There's a secret ingredient
in Sarah's pasta.
Empty
Nest (Feb. '03) Ruth goes to college. Ten years after Going Under, three
years before Protective Isolation.
Protective
Isolation (Jan. '03) Bill's on tour with Jenifur, and Tim breaks
his foot. Stuff
happens. Unabashed
schmoopy hurt/comfort with a large side of angst, 13 years
after Going Under. The most fun I've ever had, writing a
story.
Coming
Out of the Closet
(Feb. '03) Set a little after Protective Isolation. Ardent's birthday fic. Fluffy fun involving a hospital benefit,
tuxedos, and a coat closet.
Surprise
Visit (2001) Twenty years after Going Under.
"Dad stops for a second and stares down the street. 'You're
about to think I'm the one replaced by a pod,' he says absently."
Billie's
Story (first published in Going Under 'zine May '03, online
May '04) Vignettes throughout the Going
Under series, from Billie's point of view.
Coda
(April 2003) The last story. There's a warning
with this one in the notes at the beginning.
