Robert Lee — My Bio
I grew up in New York City in the 1950's during the birth of rock'n'roll and the height of the mambo craze.
At age 24, I put on hold a career in computer science to pursue music in San Francisco.
I spent the next fifteen years performing original songs and folk music of the southern US on guitar and banjo.
At the ripe age of 37 I became a violinist and joined the ranks of the wild and flamboyant.
Now just turning 60, I pay tribute to Latin-influenced music from the Mississippi Delta, Louisiana, the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America..
I'm in love with Latin rhythm, and you'll hear it in my rhythmic style of playing that some people have described as seductive.
Among my main musical influences are Machito, Celia Cruz, Professor Longhair, Stefane Grappelli, Junior Wells, Kenny Baker, and Ricky Ricardo (just kidding).
