MAINELY BASS
Mainely Bass is based out of Limington, Maine and has members from York and Cumberland counties. Our club’s
focus is on friendly competition with a strong emphasis on sharing our knowledge and expertise to strengthen fellow club members
while enjoying the great sport of bass fishing. Several members fish our club tournaments with their sons or daughters –
it is great to have youth hooked on tournament fishing and we welcome their participation.
2006 was another exciting and busy year for our club. Our club remains focused on getting youth involved in
fishing. This year we hosted three Bassmaster CastingKids competitions, held a family ice fishing event, continued to support
our Junior Bassmaster Chapter’s meetings and tournaments and hosted our third open tournament on China Lake, which attracted
49 boats and raised $500 for the Maine Conservation School.
On the conservation side, we maintained the 15 wood duck boxes which we have installed in the Bridgton and
Scarborough areas; we helped our youth chapter build and set out several new wood duck boxes; and we continued to inspect
our club’s boats & trailers for any aquatic vegetation before and after each tournament.
We still found plenty of time to fish. Congratulations to Tim Laflamme, who was crowned Mr. Bass with 73.78lbs
after leading the standings the entire season. Second place went to Roger Laflamme Jr with 71.83 lbs followed by Eric Kuehne
with 64.29 lbs. Congratulations to Roger Laflamme Jr for making the 2007 state team.
We anxiously await the 2007 season. We plan to further expand & improve our conservation and youth programs,
and are busy making next years China Lake Open even better than the last – we hope to see you there.
