ANALOG and RF MODELS

Modeling and Simulation

Analog and RF Models provides Spice models of many types of analog and radio frequency active and passive components. We also do analog models of high speed logic gates. Our models are affordable and do not contain any gimmicks or unreasonable parameters. Model data that can be compared with data sheet or device data are shipped with the models. All Spice models are built to the Berkeley Spice 2G.6 standard and run under 2G.6 or any of the newer 3x.x simulators or PSpice. All of our models operate in both the AC and transient domains.

Active RF devices that we can model include barrier diodes, varactor diodes, PIN diodes, bipolar transistors (small signal and class C), GaAsfet transistors, mosfet transistors, MMIC’s, and jfets. General analog models that we build include high speed logic, opto laser diodes, opto pin diodes, operational amplifiers and transimpedance amplifiers, general monolithic analog integrated circuits, and zener diodes. Other types of models we build include thermal models, antenna models, transmision line models, quartz crystal models, and other passive components that include various parasitics.

RF active component models include realistic device and package parasitics and depending on the model type can include DC effects, temperature effects on DC perfomance, 50 ohm noise characteristics, and intermodulation distortion.

PIN diode models feature accurate RF resistance, low frequency resistance, DC voltage drop, and carrier lifetime. DC drop and RF resistance are temperature compensated.

Laser diode models include temperature effects, threshold, self heating, built-in thermoelectric coolers, and built-in pin monitor diodes. Opto pin diode models include leakage, leakage variation with temperature, and capacitance.

Logic gate models are built with accurate internal devices for input and output sections so that effects such as drive impedance, load impedance, transmission line effects, and supply bypassing can be simulated.

Operational amplifier and transimpedance amplifier models include common mode rejection with frequency effects, rail-to-rail  input stages if applicable, realistic change in open loop output impedance vs output current, voltage swing, non-symmetrical slew rate, bipolar, jfet or mosfet input devices, bipolar or mosfet output devices, rail-to-rail output stages if applicable, current limit, and output current drawn through the supply rails. These models can optionally include both voltage and current noise with 1/F knee, power supply rejection with frequency effects, and  non-linearities for distortion.

Analog and RF Models has a Spice post processing program for distortion and spectrum analysis work. This program is a software spectrum analyser that gets data from your Spice output file. The advanced window it uses allows measurement down to -150 dbc with 20 db margin.

Zener diode models feature proper voltage and impedance over a wide current range.

We can build Spice models to model the impedance of your antennas and / or feedlines for Spice modeling of transmit or receive circuits. We can also simulate your antenna / feed-line / propagation situations with NEC and if you are using NEC we can provide the models.

Although our bench test and measurement capabilities are intended as an adjunct to model developement, we have quite a few instruments for both RF and general purpose measurements (see our Test & Measurement page) and would be glad to quote on doing any such measurements for you.
