Summer Camp 2008

Great Lakes Global Annual TaeKwon-Do Camp is a week of fun with TaeKwon- Do.  We work not only on rank requirements, but on all areas of TaeKwon-Do.  We play games, compete in fun contests, and more.  Camp runs five days 9:00 am - 12 Noon.  This is open to all students of all ranks.  New students to TaeKwon-Do are also welcome.  Snacks and T-shirt are included in the cost of camp.  This event is a favorite among many of our students.
There is a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 20 students for each week of camp.  Register by May 29th.  Due to the concentrated training, students earn 20 hours toward promotion by attending camp.

Cost: $75.00 per week of camp.  If you sign up for both camps, you will receive a $5 discount on the second camp.

Camp I: June 23-27

Camp II: July 14 - 18

2007 World Tournament Results

Great Lakes Global Taekwon-Do took 8 students to the World Championships in Birmingham, England August 1-5, after qualifying in Pleasanton, CA in April.  Mrs. Carol Van Zile served as the Jr. Men's Team Coach and the assistant Sr. Men's Team Coach.  Our Junior Men's Team won the Team All-around  - 1st place of 14 competing teams (as determined by the most medals won).  Our team took gold medals in power breaking and specialty breaking, and Bronze in team sparring.  Great Lakes Global Black Belts on the team were: Zane Bauman, Amit Goyal, Nick Larberg and Benjamin Van Zile.

In Jr. Men's Individual Competition, Mr. Benjamin Van Zile was named the Jr. Male Champion, earning gold in specialty breaking and power breaking, and bronze in hyper-weight sparring and 3rd degree patterns.   Amit Goyal took Bronze in 3rd degree patterns.  Others who earned 5th place honors were Brittany Markward in hyperweight sparring, and Zane Baumann in 1st degree patterns.

In the Sr. Men's Division, Mr. Jonathan Van Zile and Mr. Andrew Pasternak competed as members of the Sr. Men's Team.  They won a bronze medal in patterns.

Congratulations to all who competed, and to Mrs. Van Zile for her skill and dedication in training and coaching these competitors.  Our instructor and these students have put our school on the world Taekwon-Do map!  Great Lakes Global Taekwon-Do is truly a World Class School training world class athletes!
