As Jack cuts down trees to thin the forest, he repositions each cut tree to lay across the fall line of the hill side. The first photograph shows a hill side where he has placed cut trees to prevent erosion. The trees, no matter how small, catch a surprising amount of decomposed granite and organic material that would otherwise wash down the slope. |
