'Doc' Dockter is the proud owner of a 1956 Thunderbird which he fondly named the Chick Magnet. Doc
drives his stick shift with overdrive T-bird everywhere. He has no fear of breakdowns because he makes sure the Chick Magnet
gets regular check ups with a professional mechanic. Doc drove all of Route 66 in his Chick Magnet in 2007 from Chicago
to Santa Monica. The Chick's nest is in San Mateo County, south of San Francisco, CA.

The Idea
It all started with Doc's Dream Tour. He wanted to drive his 1956 Thunderbird to all lower
48 State capitals. At a CTCI Santa Clara Valley Thunderbirds' chapter meeting, he tossed out the idea of touring
all lower 48 State capitals. Most thought he was crazy.
Then Doc and a few fellow T-birders decided to drive part of Route 66. That brought Doc to the Wigwam
Motel in Rialto, California. A few members of local CTCI chapters, the Early Birds of Southern California and Inland
Empire, met them at the Wigwam for a send-off dinner. During dinner, Doc threw out his capital tour idea. Lucy Clark loved
the idea!
And so it began in March 2007. So many details to work out - the route, time of the year, which year,
who to invite, and could a greater cause be served other then just having a great time.
Since the preservation of our classic Thunderbirds is important to all of us, we decided to raise
awareness of auto restoration schools which are training the professionals required to ensure our cars are available to future
generations. The school selected to be the major focus of our efforts is McPherson College. McPherson College is the
only 4-year, accredited college in the US offering a major in Automotive Restoration.
Please Note: We are not professional tour operators! We are only interested in getting a group
of classic Thunderbird owners together to tour our beautiful country.

| Lucy & Betsy Bird at Hot August Nights, 2006 |
Lucy Clark bought her 1957 Coral Sand Thunderbird in November 2003 and named her Betsy Bird.
Lucy loves to drive and Betsy loves to be driven. In 2004, they toured all of Route 66 from California to Chicago
and back to the Santa Monica Pier. The summer of 2005, they drove in their first caravan to Olympia, Washington,
for the CTCI Convention with members of the Early Birds of Southern California. Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada,
was the big trip in 2006. The Arizona Route 66 Fun Run has been an annual trip since 2004. Before and after every
trip, Betsy receives a thorough check up by Prestige Thunderbird.
Betsy Bird has had a few 'improvements' to make her a road-worthy classic Thunderbird: disc brakes,
radial tires, emergency flashers, seat belts, air conditioner, AM/FM/CD player, engine rebuilt in 2006, and the seats reupholstered
with new foam for comfort. Her latest improvement is cruise control, installed just for the 48 in 08 tour.
