Car Window Decals Update
(5/30/08)

The 48 in 08 car window decals are now available. Click on Window Decals in the left column for ordering information.

Door Decals
(5/26/08)

More classic T-Birds recently had 48 in 08 door decals placed on their cars by FastSigns in San Mateo, California. Following are a couple SCVT T-Birds with their decals on Memorial Day. (Photos taken by Ray Delgado.)

48 in 08 Car Window Decals
(5/8/08) (See 5/30/08 update above)

Car window decals will be available soon. They are about the size of a business card and look like the multi-colored state map on the Chick Magnet's door (see photo below). They are static-cling vinyl decals so they are easily applied and removed without leaving any residue on window glass.

The owner of each Thunderbird registered for the 48 in 08 tour will receive one car window decal -- until we run out of window decals. So be sure to send in your registration form early while these small decals are still available.

Anyone who wants to purchase 48 in 08 car window decals, they will be available soon. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each window decal will be donated to the Mc Pherson College Automotive Restoration Department.

Wyoming Schedule Change
(5/30/08)

We were originally scheduled to stop at the Wyoming Capitol in Cheyenne on Saturday, August 9. The Race for the Cure is taking place that day and we were advised we would not be able to get close to the Capitol to take photos. Therefore, we have rearranged our schedule.

We now plan to arrive in Denver a few hours earlier on Saturday, August 9. This will provide more time to take photos at the Denver Capitol and spend more time with the Colorado Classic Thunderbird Club members at the picnic they are hosting in Northglenn.

We are now scheduled to stop in Cheyenne on Sunday, August 10, to take our photos. Depending on how long the Cheyenne stop takes, we may have to forego our original plans to stop at Mount Rushmore or the Crazy Horse Monument.

Caravan Communications
(5/26/08)

While driving on the 48 in 08 tour, Doc and Lucy will be using two-way radios. We will be on Channel 7, Interference Code 1, as long as there isn't a lot of outside chatter; if there is, we will try one channel up or down. Lucy's radio is an older Motorola Talkabout, FRS/GMRS Recreational Two-Way radio with a 10-mile range.

Registration Deadline
(5/8/08)

Since we will be on the road starting July 24, we would appreciate receiving all Registration Forms by June 30. This will allow us time to acknowledge receipt of all Registration Forms. The forms will also provide the necessary contact information so we can coordinate meeting locations while on the tour.

Once we leave home to drive to Sacramento, all of our mail will be held at the post office and, therefore, we won't see any late Registration Forms until we return home in September.

48 in 08 Apparel
(5/8/08) (See June Newsletter for update)

Doc has been working on designing and production of special 48 in 08 apparel. Some of the items will be:
  • Navy cap with a red & white embroidered 48 in 08 logo (photo of prototype below)
  • Ringed T-shirts with a screened 48 in 08 logo on the front and route map/list of Capitol cities on the back (women's and men's sizes)
  • Polo shirts with the 48 in 08 logo embroidered on the front
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each item (after recovering setup costs) will be donated to Mc Pherson College's Automotive Restoration Department.

More information, photos, and a link to ordering information will be available in a week or two. (See 6/1/08 article.)
