CTCI Participation

Thank you to one and all. The CTCI response to the "48 In 08" tour has been more then we expected. Most of the Regional Directors have contacted us and fully support our efforts to raise awareness of our Classic Thunderbirds and McPherson College.

Several Chapters (16) are adding our arrival in their area to their Chapter activities. One is even planning a pot luck dinner which will be a real treat after dining on restaurant food for at least a month - home cooking!

Several Chapter Editors included information about "48 In 08" in their newsletters.

And, Lin Somsak, "EarlyBird" magazine Editor has graciously included "48 In 08" in a couple issues. A more detailed article should be in the January-February 2008 issue.

Tour Changes

As we progress, we are making changes along the way. Be sure to check this website regularly to read about the most recent changes.

Oil/filter changes are now scheduled for Portland (OR), Linton (ND), Wisconsin/Chicago area, and Atlanta (GA).

The oil change in WI/IL has changed from two days to one day. The extra day has been moved to MI so we can spend more time in Dearborn - the birthplace of our classic Thunderbirds.

The stop at McPherson College has been changed from early in the tour to after Oklahoma City.

The dates on the 2-page Information Sheet and tri-fold Brochure reflect the changed date to visit to McPherson College and only one day to change oil/filters in the Wisconsin/Chicago area.

Map Updated

The Route Map on this website was updated on December 28, 2007 by our map-maker, Doc, to reflect changes in the Schedule over the last couple of months.

Tour Participation

CTCI member participation in the tour is increasing as the word spreads across the country. Most are interested in doing just a portion of the tour which is great. It means we'll get to meet new people and see more Classic Thunderbirds.

So far, CTCI members planning to do a portion of the tour are from: California, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas (at least 5 from Texas).

McPherson College

Doc is in regular contact with McPherson College.

Dan Hudachek, Director, Auto Restoration, suggested we visit the college after Oklahoma City instead of early in the tour. This would allow us to tour the campus while classes are in session. We have made this change to the schedule.

McPherson's PR department will also contact the media in all 48 capitals. This will help maximize publicity for McPherson, CTCI, and the tour. Not to mention, one less thing the participants will have to arrange while on the tour. Thank you McPherson College!
