By the time I get to Phoenix
(6/11/08)
We are always thinking of ways to increase awareness and raise a few dollars for the McPherson College Auto Restoration
Program. The latest idea - a contest - came by way of Gordon Thorne, President of the CTCI Puget Sound Chapter. Thank you,
Gordon!
The contest has been named "By the time I get to Phoenix ... ", borrowed from the song made famous by
Glen Campbell. Contestants will guess the total miles traveled by Betsy Bird (Lucy's 1957 T-Bird) between the California state
capitol in Sacramento to the Arizona state capitol in Phoenix. The miles traveled will be the difference in Betsy Bird's odometer
readings at the two locations and include all sightseeing, detours, gas and lunch stops, and overnight stays.
Should something unforeseen happen and Betsy Bird does not complete the tour, mileage will be calculated from Betsy's
stopping point to the Arizona capitol. Included will be all planned stops in between. MS Streets & Trips software will
be used to calculate the remaining miles.
Entry forms are available by clicking the link below. Entries are $1 each or $5 for six entries and can be mailed
to Doc Dockter, along with your donation, or given to Doc or Lucy when we meet on the tour.
In case of a tie, the winner will be chosen by drawing one entry from the tied entries. The winner will receive a 48
in 08 tee shirt and cap. All the other entrants will have the satisfaction of donating to a worthy cause, the McPherson
Auto Restoration Program.
