The Boating Page
Our favorite toy is la Dolce Vita a 26' Formula PC. The PC indicates it is a pocket cruiser. She is powered by a shiny, new Mercruiser 7.4 engine, recently installed by Westside Marine (904) 695-2756.
I recommend them as a fair and honest repair shop. Nice people too.
The outdrive is a Bravo II with a 22 X 22 Stainless prop.
la Dolce Vita is equipped with generator, full set of electronics, Kenwood and Sony Entertainment center with VHS and DVD, reverse cycle ac and heat, vac-u-flush head and complete galley.
Just so I can get around at night and in bad weather I added GPS, Radar and a 3D Sonar Array

I also carry 2 flare kits plus an extra set of rockets (SOLAS) Orange Smoke (3) and a really loud whistle! 1 CO˛ Fire extinguisher, 2 Large Dry Chemical Extinguishers, and a non Coast Guard approved KiddeŽ Foam Extinguisher which will put out any kind of fiberglass, fuel, canvas, or electrical fire. Oh yeah, I also have an automatic CO˛ in the engine room. I suppose I am a little paranoid of fire, but after having been on a burning boat once, and the single dry chemical failing to put out the flaming outboard. (Bail buckets of water finally worked though.)

The boat has 2 installed bilge pumps plus a gray water pump what will kick in automatically in a high water situation. 2 Extra bilge pumps; 1 manual stroke pump and 1 electric 750. We also have gasoline powered General Purpose Pump which burps out a mere 200 gallons per minuet. I have used this pump several times and it floats all but the most badly holed boats. I am a member of the U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary! and we are there to help.

Bow Shot A shot across the bow.
Over The Stern

Amy's favorite seat. The "la Dolce Vita" cruises well at 24 knots at 75% throttle and is capable of 38 knots.(45 mph) at full power. Pretty good speed for a floating house. For those of you that don't know what a knot is, It is a great circle mile equal to 1.2 statute miles. Therefore 10 knots equals 12 miles per hour in your car.

cabin
The cabin is well thought out by the builders. The center seating area and table convert easily into a bed or a sitting area. There is lots of storage space too. The well equipped galley, includes a microwave and dual voltage fridge w/ icemaker. The stove is a high quality Swedish built electric/alcohol and a small trash compactor resides under the sink. We carry a 60 gallon fresh water supply and a 30 psi Paragon Pump, and also have raw water wash down at 55 psi. It is useful for getting the dirt off the deck, or squirting the annoying jet skier, as needed!

We also have a gas grill/dutch oven which mounts on a plate in the stern. Great for steaks and I have even baked biscuits. Next trip I am going to get really adventurous and try a cake! The "bathroom" is a little tight, (Then again, I'm not skinny) but comes comes equipped with a vacuum flush toilet (head), stand up shower, hand sink, shaving mirror (which I have never shaved with.. chuckle) as well as hot and cold water and plenty of storage. An indicator informs the user if the 20 gallon holding tank is getting full.

I have added a keylock switch for the macerator pump to prevent sewage discharge, as on one occasion a passenger's child just had to "flip the switch" with the seacock closed, and ended up blowing the discharge line. It made a horrible mess in the engine room, and I was still dealing with odor a month later.

The helm station is large and has extra room for electronics. With the addition of a Garmon GPS, Paramount 3D sonar, JRC Radar. and extra VHF radio, all interlinked with a NEMA cable, I can navigate under almost any conditions. Of course, I keep charts and a compass to keep Mr. Justin Case happy. The hydraulic steering makes handling easy. Even Amy can handle the "Vita" without difficulty. She is still afraid to bring her to the dock though. I must admit we do have an odd slip configuration. I have to swing the stern around 120 degrees and back in. Its a trick in a wind.

at the helm I am smileing!
Amy's Book Come on in, the water's fine!
