I was invited by Xenia Diente who I met at the ACA Wind Art Residency to participate in the 3rd annual Transportable Environments Conference in Toronto April 28th-30th, 2004. The conference was an exchange of ideas of architects and designers from all over the world who are interested in structures with a transient quality. Although the size of the event was relatively small, there were an amazingly wide range of proposals presented illustrating philosophical aspects, environmental and humane uses, artistic exploration, and innovative practical uses of transportable structures. From design of space rovers(Meinerdt Versteeg) to new theories in architectural thought(Chuck Hoberman), the conference was a fascinating experience and I was thankful to be exposed to yet another world. A book of all the papers presented will be published next year.

My role was to demonstrate the moving sculptures or 'bendegrities' of Xenia Diente for her presentation. It was the first time the element of live performance was introduced at a TE Conference.
