JAM LINK

airelise and crew were  invited to a 28 hour art jam at the Ben Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in July.

We had 28 hours to create a piece that demonstrated how 'knowing physics allows you to do things that you could not before'. We created a sculptural dance that showcased 'shapes with unexpected centers of gravity'.

We also created a site-specific piece that utilised a pulley and the exposed beams of the I-Max foyer. (A pulley is a kind of lever.) And we created an educational clown piece with a video element built by Dan Kelly based on physics concepts that we crammed in our brains while driving to Philly. We were busy.

The next day we showed our work in the Ben Franklin Memorial Hall, a beautiful marble domed room. We were fed veggie lunches with meat salad, ice cream frozen with liqiud nitrogen (very creamy), and pizza. It was fun.
