Impacting Our Communities for Christ

2008 1st Quarter Reports

 Acts Fellowship Network:

§     One of the converts of Rio-Chambersburg accepted Christ as Savior during a telephone conversation in January.   And the mother of a Peruvian member of the cell group who was on her deathbed with stomach cancer accepted Christ and was miraculously healed!

§     Rufino, the first Rio-Waynesboro convert who was baptized in January, gave his first public talk at a retreat at the end of April.  Veronica’s father in Mexico was led to Christ over the phone.  He died two days later, but this brought tremendous peace to Veronica.

§     Charity is a 12-14 year old girl who is requesting baptism.  She has changed greatly since her initial contact with Chebo and Clarissa.  Charity hopes to bring her family to the baptism.  Interestingly, her mother attended Peace Light as a youth!)

Antrim:

§     Caila has been attending Antrim for several years with her grandparents.  She helps with children’s church.  Several weeks ago, she received Christ during a morning worship service!

Five Forks:

§     A young couple from Five Forks has a 9 month old in Hershey Medical Center with cancer that is hopefully curable.  A lay person from the church organized a prayer vigil where many came out early on a Wednesday night for an hour of prayer for this family.  Our ladies ministry (Common Bond) has also reached out and is ministering to them in a number of ways.

Iron Springs:

§     One man in the congregation was told he had to move because a problem in the landlord’s family caused a need for the rented home.  Another couple stepped up and offered him a place to live for the remainder of 2008.  As we prayed for both of these situations, the problem in the landlord’s family was resolved and the man need not move.  The overall result brought times of tearful praise.

Mt Rock:

§     A young lady in our youth ministry had a friend come to faith in Jesus Christ through her faithful witness of the love of God to her.

Van Lear:

§     Diana's husband, Gordy died unexpectedly back in Sept.  Since that time she is being transformed before our very eyes as she draws closer to the Lord.  On April 23, her 7 year old daughter Maddison was bitten on the face by the neighbor’s dog.   As the ambulance was coming to get Maddision Wed night, she told all the neighbors present that everything was going to be OK because God was going to take care of her.  Praise God for her faith and her testimony!!!

The Vine:

§     A new family that started attending The Vine at the end of last year is a real asset to us.  The father recommitted his life to Christ on the first Sunday of January.  They are interested in helping with youth ministry.  The couple is counseling with Pastor Carlos.

Walkersville:

§     T is a man who has experience the pain of divorce and found his way into the church after being unchurched all of his life.  He is beginning to follow Jesus!

West Side:

Pastor Jim shares, “Shane came unexpectedly to my office one day.  His third marriage was in trouble, but he had given his life to Christ the evening before at a truck stop ministry.  I shared with him and gave him a beginning discipleship book.  He and his wife came to church the following Sunday, where she came forward to receive Christ.  They have a load of baggage but Shane has quit smoking and shows real evidence of heart change and wanting to follow Christ.”
