| Charting the Path: Workshops Exploring
the Individual Path to Godhead
We are participants in a most challenging
time, on both a global and personal level. In response, many are reaching
into the deepest levels of themselves to feel a sense of peace. This carries
with it not only an emotional healing but a spiritual awakening.
The purpose of Charting the Path is to provide a nine-session,
related series of workshop experiences addressing the issues, awarenesses,
and constraints of such profound inner work. With the assistance of others
committed to similar self understanding, each participant may examine the
tenets of each gathering, share thoughts, and support others in their quest.
After each session, the participants will go forth into their lives to
process and embrace what they have come to understand together. Later,
they will return to the fold to take the next step.
It seems no coincidence that this series has presented itself as a nine-month
process, thus birthing a new or confirmed commitment of each who accepts
this journey.
Each session will involve meditation, discussion, and prayer. There
will also be time for journal process, music, and motion. Joy in the quest
for knowledge will be a dominant force. The group will also use the late
Unity minister Jack Boland's "Master Mind Principle" in each session to
amplify individual prayer requests for attainment of one's highest good.
Each meeting will end with fellowship and "decompression" in the form
of a pot luck dinner, a chance to be together in a lighter manner before
heading home. It is hoped that a bond of new friendships will be achieved
within the ultimate purpose of this process. The following presents
a synopsis of each presentation and the process of the series:
The Buzz Words of The Spiritual Path
There are many words which throw one off course in the search for Oneness.
In this introduction to the series, these terms will be examined and, perhaps,
redefined in a more meaningful way.
Ego, Fear, & Release
What is this entity called Ego? How is fear the most powerful tool in
its survival and how does fear play out in our lives? Mostly, what steps
may be taken to move from fear to peace?
Let Go & Let God
A process easier said than done; or is it? Surrender is not an overnight
occurrence for most but an unfolding. The group will look into events that
have brought each closer to this goal and discuss further methods of amplifying
Faith.
The Nature & Power Of Prayer
At some time, each of us has prayed in some way. This session will look
more deeply into the nature of prayer, dialogue with one's personal Higher
Power, and how to incorporate prayer in daily life.
Grieving The Loss Of The Former Self
As an individual grows, frequently there is an inexplicable feeling
of loss or sadness. This is a form of grief related to the changes experienced
and loss of familiar patterns and behaviors. The group will look to those
changes and develop mechanisms for acceptance and moving on.
Angels Among Us
Angels really do exist. This session will bring the knowledge of "God's
Service Industry" to light and help develop confidence that this support
is actually there for each of us, just for the asking.
Christ & Buddha: Meeting of the Minds
Compassion, Love, and mindful living will be the focus of this gathering.
The principles presented by Christ and Buddha, as Master Teachers, will
be explored from the perspective of being masterful and mindful in one's
day-to-day adventure.
The Illusion Of Purpose
"I don't know what I came here to be?" An all-too-familiar cry! We are
really asked to focus on God first. A deeper look into surrender and how
it applies to our life plan will be the focus of this workshop.
Self-Actualization & Service
The last of the series will set goals for continued work as well as
discuss selfless service to others. Martyrdom or self-sacrifice is not
implied. Rather, the ways we may each know ourselves and be a point of
Light and strength to others will be the focal point.
These workshops may also be presented individually for afternoon, evening,
or all day/weekend sessions, as well as other presentations Georgia has
developed to enhance the individual on a journey for a deeper notion of
one's place in this world of ours.
Also:
The Lyric of Devotion is
a workshop experience focused on the use of poetry an the expression of
the spiritual aspect of daily life. Participants will be guided into
writing experiences in which they may reflect upon a personal sense of
faith, no matter what their individual practice or expression of that faith
may be.
With a non-denominational approach,
the workshop participants will be able to examine individual awarenesses
of spirituality and how they impact their lives and actions. The
primary aspect of this group experience is to utilize the beauty of the
poetic form to delve into this deeper place in the poets' hearts, to create
personal prayers for one's own use, and to share the universality of the
notion of a Higher Power.
This workshop would be experienced
in a progressive series of writing exercises, guided meditation, and group
discussion, to complete the process. After each exercise, a brief
period of discussion and sharing of examples of the exercise will be offered.
Focusing on issues of growth
and self-expression, as well as looking into the "corners" of personal
emotion contributes to an extremely touching and meaningful experience
for participants, who are then offered the tool of writing to further examine
and often heal those delicate issues within themselves, all in a safe and
protected environment.
The ultimate objective is a
playful, light workshop experience weaving the nature of poetry and the
nature of spiritual devotion together for all participants so that they
may continue to use their own poems to heighten their personal connection
with their spirit.
Please note: This workshop
could be easily adapted for other durations, such as a weekend event or
an all-day workshop.
