| As part of the Ceremony, we prayed for the heritage to carry forward the Nez Perce Appaloosa Horse |
Lead by Bruce Jolly, Boy Scout Cascade Council Troop 316 members
of the Order of the Arrow donated this colt to the Tribe as a gesture of our youth bringing the nations and cultures
together.
When Rizzy was born, his name reflected his birth on Easter Sunday and
the resurrection of the appaloosa, the Rising Glory of the Appaloosa horse.
We had no idea, two years ago, that he would fulfill his name and provide his heritage to the rusurrection of Ma'amin within
the Nez Perce Tribe. We are honored, our dreams fulfilled with this event. Regina & Bret Shapiro, Owners Appy Trails

"Appy Trails Ranch began as
a dream, to preserve the old blood of the Nez Perce Appaloosas"

Appy Trails Ranch began as a dream, to preserve the old blood of the Nez Perce Appaloosas. Our foundation stallion, Mamin
Iskitpe Apache comes from the old line herds and while the ApHC does not consider him 100% Appaloosa, that is a paper decision,
not a Blood issue. Apache is about as pure of appaloosa blood as can still be found. His breeders, The American Leopard
Appaloosa Ranch, has traced his bloodlines to the 1840's. A continuation of Frank Scripters program, this solid black stallion
carries the genes of many leopard x leopard geneations. Apache is part of the Appaloosa Project genetic reseach project
currently establishing the location of the LP gene which along with the PATN gene, produces the appaloosa white patterns.
Each mare is selected for her confirmation, dispostion and pedigree, to carry forward as much of the appaloosa genetics
that can be found today. We support a Purebred Appaloosa program that requires at least 51% blood traceback to the original
4932 F# horses in the ApHC registry. The new IPAA seems to be the direction for old line breeders, but we will wait to see
how it works. Most of our horses qualify for multiple registry including Colorado Ranger, FAHR, Sundance 500 and ICAA.
Welcome to Appy Trails Ranch, Home of the Mamin Iskitpe Appaloosas!
We are a Northwest based breeding farm, focused
on producing quality appaloosas that are versitile, usable horses with excellent disposition and confirmation.
Meet the boys, Apache and Jaks.
