Metayer Metayer

5.2 Scarce vintage Metayer China yacht wash basin stationed in its original teak cabinet. Most landlubbers would not know what was nested in this teak cabinet as pictured. However, with door lowered a rare example of shipboard furniture is revealed, a vintage wash station from a classic yacht.
The china wash basin signed:

A. Metayer Paris 135 Rue St Antoine 135
is stationed in its original teak cabinet with matching manufacturer's brass plate on cabinet door marked:
A. Metayer 135 Rue St-Antoine Paris.
The wash basin is accessed by raising the brass latch on the left side and pulling the hinged door downward. Cleverly designed, the aft spouted china basin would empty as the cabinet door was raised to close, draining thru to an external storage tank below deck. China basin condition is remarkably good, with no cracks or repairs. Attractive compact teak cabinet with additional top storage drawer dovetailed by hand retains its original brass hardware and has some expected minor wear including a fine three inch age check to bottom of door panel. Two access holes to interior backboard were for plumbing, not included. Certainly this wash station could be returned to service or serve a nautical collection, secured to a bulkhead or display wall with its four original brass mounts. Although this is the only vintage yacht wash station we've come across in 20 years, we have seen a couple examples salvaged from 19thC. steamships in private collections. Overall Dimensions: Height: 26" X Width: 18" X Depth: 9" X Depth with basin: 21.5". POR

anchor

5.4 Rare Wood Builder's Model of a Ship's Anchor. Probably not a patent model; nevertheless we've only discovered a couple of these over the years. Model formed with a dozen pieces of joined pine stamped with #100 in five places. Model was used to design anchor for foundry manufacture. Model condition is pretty good as found with a few minor age checks as pictured.
Anchor size: 19" Width X 16" Height. POR
