This weblog is our online journal. You'll find a synopsis of our travels and RV living as well as links to other things on the web that we find interesting.   Remember, you can click on the pictures to get a larger image in another window.  You can also click on the dates at the end of this page to read archived journal entries.   As you click through the pages, take your time.  Notice that the blogs begin in May of 2006 - so there's lots of reading if you go back in history.  Know that we are enjoying life to its fullest and hope you are too.  Enjoy!

We went back into the park after work today and after the 4 p.m. circus show we overdosed on sugar:  blue raspberry icee, funnel cake, lemonade.  Also enjoyed gyros, onion rings, and ice cream.  Then we walked around for some exercise!  We were practicing for the Iowa State Fair and everything on a stick.  Checking out football schedules and we probably won't see any games from the sunshine state during Sept; but we get Iowa and Nebraska games.  If you're interested in presidential debates/politics check out "This Week with George..." on ABC on Sunday, Aug. 5th for Republicans and Aug. 19th for Democrats:  both shows live from Drake Univ. here in Des Moines, IA.

Just wanted to let you know that we're still around, busy as ever.  We were elected sec/treas of the WIT 365 Club so we've been going through those files and getting organized.  For all you Latin teachers out there - I thought of you as we were at the Grand National Rally and compared it to the National Junior Classical League Convention:  vendors/exhibits, meetings, seminars, games, sales, food, entertainment, etc.  Big difference is age group - Ha, Ha - but other than that, we all like to have fun, learn, and make new friends.  BTW, rabbits are multiplying:  we see several (at least 7) in our yard each evening.  The 13-striped ground squirrels are not as evident.  The red-winged blackbirds are abundant also.  Life is great.

Yep, still having fun at GNR!  Rallies are like conventions for RVers: seminars, crafts, tour of Winnebago plant, socials, and Regina was lucky enough to call bingo tonight; she's missed this activity since leaving RCR.  Paul is finding new "toys" to improve our lives.  Weather has definitely warmed up, and last night we had thunderstorms, so the humidity has increased considerably.  Lots more to finish out the week.  Later, friends.

Hope you had great luck today, FRIDAY the 13th!   We've been enjoying the 365 Club activities this week and are looking forward to GNR beginning on Sunday.  Tomorrow we're going into Forest City for the Puckerbrush Parade and more. Weather is good, friendship is great, and life is wonderful.  Later.

Just wanted to say HI before we go off to have fun in Adventureland.  I'll be doing laundry tonight as we head out in the morning to Forest City, IA, to attend the 365 Rally and the GNR (Grand National Rally) for Winnebago owners.  We really like this rally as it always has electricity and the vehicles are all motorhomes.  Then there are the seminars, vendors, social hours, and meeting up with friends and making new friends.  You can find more at www.geocities.com/wit365club/  Right now there are a few pictures from last year under "events" link.  Check it out.  The phone service (and internet connection) is not very strong so you may not hear from us for a while.  Watching CBS Sunday Morning now - how about those "new 7 wonders" - gonna have to check that out online before leaving.  You all remember to have fun this summer.  Take care.

Happy 4th of July!  We just returned from watching the fireworks at Prairie Meadows.  Wow - pyrotechniques have come a long way; the colors and shapes were spectacular.  Tomorrow we watch fireworks at Adventureland.  Such fun we are having here.  Hope your summer is progressing well!

Another busy weekend.  But we've been having fun, too.  Thursday we had dinner and shopped at the Farmer's Market in Valley Junction, a historical suburb of Des Moines; fresh vegetables, fruit, and rhubarb cake.  Last night we went to Knoxville with Marlys and Gary for the 360 and 410 sprint car races; no spectacular crashes but lots of dirt flying everywhere. www.knoxvilleraceway.com  Beautiful full moon, too.  Prairie Meadows has fireworks on Tues. and Adventureland on Wed.; we should be able to see both from our backyard.  We'll be busy preparing for the 365 and Grand National Rally (for Winnebago owners) in Forest City, IA,  the 9th-20th.  Hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are.
