Greetings from North Liberty.  We are camped at Colony Country CG (50 amp and free wifi) for the week.  Today we revisited the Amana Colonies and bought more knives and enjoyed a pork loin family style lunch at the Ox Yoke Restaurant.  We drove around and remembered our walk through the 7 towns in 2004; the RV park has also been upgraded.  We're going into Iowa City and visit the Old Capital and several museums the next few days.  We might make it to the Riverside Casino, too.  We went outside at 4 a.m. and watched the lunar eclipse; stars came out as the moon darkened.  Cold front is moving in tonight.  Yuk to 55 degrees...

Blue skies and cool morning - 60 degrees is below our threshhold of tolerance.  Ah well, we'll be busy today so that will keep us warm.  The crowds have been thirsty these last few weekends before school begins.

How much fun are we having?  Lots!  We went back to the fair Sunday night after work to eat more and to hear Don McLean.  Be sure to check out the pictures on this and the Iowa 2007 page.  Then we spent a morning with other workampers playing miniature golf.  Lucky that was Wednesday because the front came through and it rained and stormed on Thursday and Friday.  Our area only got a few inches compared to the southern and eastern areas of Iowa that had washed out roads and up to 12 inches of rain in two days - crazy!  We are now working weekends only through Sept. 30th.  So we are taking advantage of five days and driving ARV to Iowa City and the Amana Colonies this next week.  Stay tuned for more travels and fun times.  Happy 85th Birthday, Mom!

Iowa State Fair - YUM!  We spent nine hours and $90 on Tuesday.  Some souvenirs but mostly food on a stick.  Also spent time listening to presidential hopefuls on the soapbox at several venues.  It was 93 degrees with 101 heat index on Tues. as it has been for a week or so.  Today a cold front came through and the morning began at 61 degrees with only 83 high and a cool breeze all day.  Soon we'll have more time when we go to just weekend workamping.  We've been watching movies from the library in the evening and just keeping busy.  Later...

Oh, gosh - already into a week of August.  We've been having way too much fun going into the park to play and eat, visiting with RV workamping friends, and, of course, having fun serving the guests at Adventureland.  Tomorrow we plan to see Harry Potter at the IMAX along with our other "day off" activities.  The Iowa State Fair starts this weekend, too.  Stay tuned for pictures of us eating everything on a stick!
