Our Auction will be held on the league Message Board, and is scheduled to begin 6pm CST July 25th.
By 6pm CST of July 23rd all protected players/def. must be declared. This will give everyone a
couple days to study up on the available pool of Auction Players (it will be huge, trust me).
I will publish a list of all players and defenses along with the times and dates they will be put up for Auction.
For example on the first release date there will be 15-20 players put up for active bidding (a few players from each position).
Then each owner who wishes to acquire a player can place their bid on the Message Board by replying to that player's thread.
If nobody ups the bid for 24 hours then that player goes to the high bidder.
During the first couple of weeks of the Auction I will wait 3-4 days before releasing the next group of players,
however some players may remain active in the bid cycle even after the following group is released. So you must
manage your bids well.
There will be NO trades allowed during the 2007 Auction.
You will begin the Auction with $200 (less any moneys spent on protected
players) of Salary Cap money to spend during the Auction. The minimum bid will be $1, and all
bids will be in whole numbers (no fractions), i.e. $1, $2, $3 etc. (Any calculations involving salary
cap money that results in a fractional value will be rounded up if the fraction is .5 or greator.)
You must acquire a minimum of 18 players/defenses from the preseason Auction and combined protected
players -however you are NOT required to acquire the maximum of 22 players/defenses during the preseason Auction and combined
protected players.
During the Auction you will be required to keep enough cash in reserve to fill out your roster to the minimum level
of 18 players (with $1 being the minimum bid).
Once an owner has either spent all his money acquiring the required minimum of 18 players -OR- once and owner
has acquired the rights to 22 players/defenses -his Auction Participation is over.
Penalties: If you bid more than you have remaining in your Salary Cap you will be penalized
2% of your remaining Salary Cap and your offending bid will be ignored (removed) from the active bids.
The same penalty will apply if you place 2 or more bids on the table who's sum would exceed your Salary Cap. In that
case the latest bid will be revoked, and if necessary further bids will be revoked until the offending owner is back under
his (now penalized) Salary Cap. These penalties are in place to make each owner pay attention and not place fake bids
on the Message boards.
By 6pm CST of July 23rd each team must declare which players/defenses they choose to protect (max
of 3). When the 2007 Auction begins -each team's Salary Cap used for bidding- will be reduced
from $200 -based on a calculation of the salary money spent to acquire those players in the 2006 Auction.
The calculated cost to protect each player fromt the 2007 Auction can now been seen on the Team Roster pages.
The number to the far right of each player on a roster.
For most players the calculation will simply be the original cost plus 10% of that cost for each player/def protected.
For example, if you get P.Manning in the 06 Auction for $50, and you chose to protect him next season then he will cost
$50 + ($50 * .1) = $55. There will also be a minimum cost applied to lower cost players -see Minimum Salary Cost
section below.
The number of years a player has been on a roster will also be used to calculate his Salary Cost to protect. If
a player has not been protected or acquired during the previous Auction then his year count goes back to 1. But if he
is protected or acquired during the previous Auction then his year count follows him to any roster he may land on during that
season. I know this is kinda complicated, but it basically is dealing with players who get traded to
new rosters or are won in an Auction then waved during the regular season and picked up by a new roster. In those cases
that player's year count is carried over to his new roster.
If a player was acquired via trade, the original salary his first team spent to acquire him in the Auction will
carry over to his new team's Salary totals used to calculate his future cost to protect from the Auction. Also the original
year his first team acquired him will continue to count for the calculation of his future cost to protect from
the Auction.
If a player acquired via Auction is Waved (cut) from a roster on the Yahoo League site, AND then picked up by
any team during that same season he was cut -that player's Auction Salary and Year Count will carry over to the
following preseason and be used to calculate the cost to protect that player.
All other Free Agent pickups are considered to have zero salary, but if protected will cost the minimum salary
in the following Auction -see next section.
Minimum Salary Cost to Protect in Following Years
There will be a minimum cost assigned to protect a player based on the number of consecutive
years an owner has chosen to protect that player.
NOTE: A player's/defense's 1st year on a team is consider the year in which he lands on a roster -via the
Auction, or Free Agency. In other words, if he's on a roster at the end of our Fantasy Football Championship
game (when our rosters are frozen) then going into the following auction he will be considered to be in his 2nd season with
that team. See exceptions on Traded players and Waved players above.
-In a player's 2nd consecutive season his salary must be set to either his previous year's
salary plus 10%, or $10. whichever is highest.
-In a player's 3rd consecutive season his salary must be set to either his previous year's
salary plus 10%, or $20. whichever is highest.
-In a player's 4rth consecutive season (and beyond) his salary must be set to either his previous
year's salary plus 10%, or $40. whichever is highest.
