Seasons of the Napa Valley

Charles Krug Winery

This scene looks lovely with all the mustard in bloom.
The month is February and this year the rainfall has been plentiful.

WINTER SPRING SUMMER AUTUMN

local links

These shots were taken over a period of three years in the northern end of the Napa Valley, mostly in or around Calistoga and St. Helena.I took these pictures with a Fuji MX600 digital camera. Most people think of the Napa Valley in relation to the many vineyards and wineries here, but their are also side roads, trees and parks that offer much in the way of natural beauty. If you have never been here, it is worth the time just exploring...

  • Creek beds Lots of sparkling creeks with fresh ferns flowing throughout.
  • Trees Majestic and towering redwoods, gnarly oaks, fruit trees and shady groves.
  • Trails Long, winding trails through Robert Louis Stevenson and Bothe State Parks.
  • Flowers Fresh, colorful and lively flowers growing on the hillside and roadside alike.
  • Bridges Old stone edifices built long ago to accomodate the first settlers and farmers.
  • Vineyards Looking beautiful and well nourished in the sunlight and rain.
