Water Level Detection System
With Water Pump Control

Water sight glasses in our model steam engines have many limitations and are often inaccurate and difficult to read and the train always has to be stopped to take a reading. This Water Level Detection System senses when the water in a boiler approaches a low level and is in danger of damaging the boiler by changing the normally Green Led to Red. Water can then be added manually through a Goodall valve. Also an available Electric Water Pump (see Water Control Systems) can be controlled by this system to automatically add and maintain water as determined by the Sensor Circuit. If an axle pump is used in the locomotive, a solenoid valve installed in the bypass is activated when the System senses the need for water to maintain water in the boiler.

ADVANTAGES OF THE WLDS SYSTEM
Simple, accurate and easy to install
Works with distilled water - No need to add tap water as in other systems
Uses an RF coupling circuit which avoids corrosion and/or plating of the probe
A continuously visible Red/Green Led indicator assures a "working system" in which the water level can be monitored without stopping the train or boat
Faster “steam up time”; no need to completely fill the boiler initially.
Allows long, safe runs
Can be used to maintain water level in steamboat boilers.
In boats, water level can be monitored "from the shore”.

The miniaturized system is enclosed in a 1 1/8" x 2" package and operates on 2 AAA batteries, making installaion easy. An on/off switch and an adjustable continuing pump control are included to prevent excessive pump cycling. The system is easily installed in a locomotive cab or tender or steamboat. A complete set of instructions, including the easy installation of the probe into the boiler, is included.
For installation in Accucraft Locomotives that have a mounted sight glass, a special probe and plug is available which replaces the sight glass and eliminates the need to drill a hole in the boiler. In this case, no permanent alterations to the boiler are required.

The price of the complete WLDS system is $125.00 plus $10.00 S&H in the US.. A set of 2 drills and a tap is available for $10.00 for those not having access to those tools. The Accucraft special probe and plug kit is available in lieu of the standard probe for $25.00.
