New Vertical Probes are available which replace the water fill plug in many Accucraft Locomotives such as 2&3 cyl.
Shays, S-12, Moguls, K-27 &
K-28, the new 4-4-0 and the Aristrocraft Mikado. The Probe extends down into the boiler to the level at which "low water
level" is to be detected.
The Probes come in three styles:
1) Sensor only probe
2) Combined Goodall and Sensor probe ( both functions in one unit)
3) Pump Input/Sensor probe. ( functions as a "clack valve" and sensor in one unit)
In all cases, no holes have to be drilled into the boiler.
