Milwaukee nonprofit organization Industries for the Blind Inc. has been awarded a U.S. Navy supply contract valued at $6.6 million with options that could bring the deal's total value to more than $35.1 million, the U.S. Department of Defense said.
Industries for the Blind, also known as IB Milwaukee, is dedicated to providing jobs for people who are visually impaired. The organization has operations in Milwaukee and Janesville and provides office supplies, light assembly and custom imprinting services.
Under the Navy contract, IB Milwaukee will provide recruiting program supplies for the Commander, Navy Recruiting Command, Millington, Tenn. Supplies include recruiting materials, literature packets, applications and brochures. The deal represents an extension of an existing Navy contract for the organization, which also supplies recruiting materials for the U.S. Air Force.
Recruiting items include custom imprinted shirts, water bottles, warm up suits, coffee mugs, pens, caps and other products.
Work will be performed in Milwaukee and is expected to be completed by July 2006.
