The National Federation of the Blind took out a rally and staged a dharna here today to press for a special recruitment drive to fill up backlog of vacancies for visually impaired persons and their other demands.
The few dozen participants sat on dharna on Parliament street, blocking the road.
The Federation is seeking assurance that a bill to amend the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, would be introduced in the next session of Parliament, reservation for the disabled in the private sector and non-application of the voluntary retirement scheme to blind employees.
