Ha Noi (VNA) - Almost 9,500 blind men and women nationwide secured stable jobs in 2005 thanks to loans of 16 billion VND (1 million USD) from the National Fund for Job Generation.
According to the Viet Nam Association of the Blind, the loans were disbursed to more than 300 production projects and establishments run by the association's chapters.
As a result, the poverty rate among blind households fell to 31.2 percent. About 2,000 members of the association were given lessons in Braille.
The figures were reported at the association's March 9 meeting.
