ZeaVision launched a new product to help fight vision loss in baby boomers, it said Wednesday.
The product, EyePromise dietary supplements, helps fight age-related macular degeneration, which is the most common cause for vision loss and legal blindness in adults over 55 in the United States, the company said.
ZeaVision's dietary supplement holds the highest daily dosage of zeaxanthin, a carotenoid found in the center of the macula, which may be the most important nutrient in macular health, the company said.
The company holds the patent that allows for the highest dosage.
Macular degeneration is a progressive eye condition that robs all but the outermost peripheral vision and leaves dark images or black holes at the center of the vision.
St. Louis-based ZeaVision researches, develops and markets zeaxanthin-based supplements for the eye.
