The point of my writing is just to share that your mom is remembered and small stories of her have been passed down
to my two children. I go on to tell about how she taught and became a commercial pilot when few women flew.
I also share the sad ending. A story I remember following closely, calling my parents to ask for more details
as the days passed.
You know all the facts, except that the memory of your mother is passed down, not only in the circles of woman
aviators and aviator historians, but also in the simple lives of those whom Ripley touched, however briefly.
My daughter, now 16, has no plans of being a pilot. But she has asked, more than once, about Ripley who challenged
conventions and followed her own dreams and aspirations, about Ripley who made it. All these years later, Ripley still inspires.
As her daughter, I thought you would like to know that.
Sincerely,
Denis K.
"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed A Long White Scarf. I'm privileged to have been able to read it and I'm honored
and humbled to be able to write about it. It is an outstanding read and a compelling story."

"a moving account of Ripley's dedication to family and flying, obviously written with love and an understanding
of the struggle women had in being accepted as pilots."

"A wonderful book about a local pilot. Full of small planes and big hopes, A Long White Scarf, Flying with Ripley Miller,
written by Ripley's daughter, Julia Doten, will leave you with your own memories of growing up in Massachusetts... this is
a beautiful and well documented tribute to her mother's memory."

"I got the book and read it over the weekend. It's stunning!
YOU GO GIRL!!"

"I can't begin to imagine the emotional labor of love you experienced in writing this masterpiece! Truly both triumph
and tragedy. I so enjoyed the read! A phenomenal woman who's successes obviously influenced your life. You must be so proud.
And somehow, somewhere, your Mom is just as proud of you I have no doubt! Congratulations!!!"

"...totally captivated by 'A Long White Scarf.' I was so impressed with your mom's determination to 'do her thing'
without foregoing her role as wife and mother. The fact that you included the baptism, and attested to your mom's faith, speaks
volumes.
I was also impressed with the way the book was written. The childhood flashbacks are clearly emotional but the overall
picture of your mom's career advancement appears to be entirely objective. It couldn't have been easy to combine these two,
but it was done in a way that makes the story entertaining and educational as well as inspirational."

"I just had to let you know that I got your book yesterday and I just finished. It was such a great read. I did not want
to put it down. Great job. Your mother was an amazing woman."

"Wow! It's all I can think of to say regarding you as an author and the book's true story. It is so well written and
heart-felt.
You must write another book some day."
