Nate is incredibly talented and hilarious. If any
of you have the chance to see Nate, I highly recommend it. The whole evening was very special. A good Mexican dinner with
Stephanie, Kerry, Jill (John’s ICU nurse) and Ann (Jill’s friend) started things off on a good note. We arrived
at show, which was sold out (approximately 200 people), 30 minutes early in order to mingle and chat.
Following
Nate’s performance, Brad (The Vinyard Pastor) took over and did a wonderful job of making the connection to the fundraising
purpose of the event. Included was an excellent testimonial from Lou Greig with
the support of Julie Rogers (the first two on the scene of John’s accident). No matter how many times we’ve heard
the story, Lou was still able to bring tears to many eyes in the audience. The performance was wrapped up with a quick video
of John from his hospital bed saying “Thank you!”. No matter how
many times we’ve seen John in his bed, it still brought tears to many of our eyes (again).
Things wrapped up with coffee and dessert,
which most people stuck around for. Steph and I wanted to rush to the hospital afterwards and tell John all about it, but
realized visiting hours were long over and security would likely not allow us in. So we rushed there first thing in the morning.
John was delighted to hear all about it and the excitement in our voices.
