Ansonia struggled on offensive in the first
half and mustered only 13 points for the half.
The young team from Southeastern outscored
the Tigers 16 to 5 in the second quarter to
take a 29-13 advantage at the break.
The Tigers were able to kick it into gear
in the 3rd quarter and outscored the Trojans
20-8 to close the gap within four at the end
of the third. Ansonia senior Eric Beisner scored
9 of his game high 19 points in the third to
lead the Tiger comeback. Nile Brown nailed
two 3s while Kyle Young added one to claw the
Tigers within 4 points, 33-37.
Ansonia’s shooting woes resurfaced in
the fourth quarter as Southeastern took an
11 – 4 run in the first 4 minutes. An
Eric Beisner 2 with just under 4 minutes found
the Tigers within 11 points but Southeastern
outscored Ansonia 11-5 down the stretch to
secure the victory and advance to face Jefferson
in the sectional final.
