Each of these murals was designed by the artist utilizing images created by
children. Students and community members were involved hands-on in the
installation process. School-based projects were done in cooperation with
Young Audiences of North Texas, a project of Big Thought.

In a special summer program, third through sixth grade students created
this mural to illustrate an African Proverb. The mosaic is located in a main
hallway, next to the entrances of the auditorium and cafeteria.

| Community Garden - Monarch Park (Fitzugh at Monarch Street, west of Ross Avenue.) |
This Community Project was a collaboration of Wilkinson ArtWorks Program
and Young Audiences of North Texas/Big Thought. It involved children,
senior adults and community volunteers from numerous organizations,
schools and the surrounding neighborhoods. Drawings for the mural were
done at the Asian Community Gardens located a few blocks from the park.

This seven panel mural was the second mosaic
project at Saldivar. Students continued the theme
of celebrating their heritage and gained inspiration
from Mexican folk art for this mural.

This unique mural was designed to fit into existing,
organic shaped recesses on an exterior front entry wall.

This textured concrete wall also has areas of relief and
"portals" that look through the wall to an inner courtyard.
Designed from their abstract free-flowing watercolor
paintings, fourth through sixth graders created this mural
out of broken tile, glass marbles and mirror shards to
celebrate imagination and community.

Fourth and fifth grade
students gained inspiration

located on a curved wall on the front of the school.
