1.  An Outside Sundial

You can make a lot of different kinds of sundials outside, but this is especially fun for kids (they love hammering stakes) and it can be done often throughout the year, showing the shadow and season changes.

.

2.  A Pop-Up Flower Card

Make a greeting card that has a pop-up flower in the middle.

The students make and label the flower parts, then write a message to someone they would like to give it to.  This is especially nice to make around Mothers' Day.

3.  Reading Seed Packages

Gather seed packages (you can usually get last year's free at a nursery) and let students CHOOSE the seeds they wnatto read about.

The students will need to categorize the seeds between flowers and herbs / vegetables, and then discover when, where, and how to plant them.  Integrates map reading as most seed packages have a Zone Map on them.
