Hello Everyone

You're probably wondering what I'm up to, right? Well, I'm so glad you
ask! I have gone and signed up for a fantastic program that raises money
for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There is a catch, (for me, not you),
I've agreed to run (walk, shuffle, crawl) 13.1 miles in the Virginia
Beach Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in September.

When you've picked yourself up off the floor from laughing . . . . I'll
continue. Since this year is the class of 1979's twenty fifth reunion, I
will be running in memory of Curtis Stoops, a classmate, who died from
leukemia. I will also run for the living, in honor of two local victims:
Brandon, a toddler undergoing treatment and Joan, a married woman in
remission at the moment.

It's really not that funny! Well, okay, I hate to run, hate to sweat, in
my forties (*@!*!), just like you! I guess it's kind of funny.

 
Please help me to meet my fundraising goal! It is $3,000. The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society has one of the best records of placing funds directly to
research and families suffering from blood related cancers. If every one
of the members of CASHS class of 1979 donated $2.50, it would give $1,500
to The Society. If 600 of us gave $3.33 it would equal $2,000, and if 600
of us each gave 5 dollars in Curtis' memory it would be $3,000 for The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I have started the fund with a $30 donation,
and the promise to run my butt off (one can only hope for some side
benefit) for the next 4 months.

If you have a loved one, living or deceased that has suffered from
cancer, and you would like to honor them, please attach their name to
your donation. I will be trying to get a prayer vigil or mass intention
organized at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Parish, in Ocean City, MD for
honorees, although I have not gotten this arranged as of yet.

 
Join me in celebrating all that we've become since 1979! The greatest
insult would be to hear, "You haven't changed a bit!" Yes we have! And
it's a good thing! Think about joining Team In Training. To learn more go
