Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs (ADDC)
The Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs celebrates fifty-five (55) years of service to members
and the energy industry. A non-profit organization of almost 2,500 individuals employed in or affiliated with the
petroleum, energy and allied industries, there are Sixty (60) clubs in seven (7) regions throughout the United States and
Canada.................
History
ADDC began in 1951 as the result of one woman's quest for knowledge
about the petroleum industry. There were four charter clubs - New Orleans, Jackson, Los Angeles and Houston. Today
the Association is made up of numerous Clubs, comprising 7 active Regions throughout the United States and Canada.
- March, 1949 - The first club was founded in New Orleans, Louisiana by Inez Awty Schaeffer.
- June, 1949 - Club formed in Jackson, Mississippi, followed by Clubs in Los Angeles, California
(April,1950) and Houston, Texas (August, 1950).
- July 23, 1951 - The Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America was formed with the
signing of the Articles of Association by the presidents of the Desk and Derrick Clubs of New Orleans, Jackson, Los
Angeles and Houston. Combined membership of the four charter clubs was 883.
The Desk and Derrick Club of Long Beach
Affiliated with the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs June 12, 1952, with the signing of
our Constitution by Myrtle C. Maier, Barbara B. Martin, Frances A. Rodenfels, Eleanor Hutchison, Sylvia Broullette, Harriette
Ekoos, June Aides, Alice M. Maronde, Iris C. Stoddard and Shirley Mugavero.
We received our Certificate of Membership, bearing effective date of June 12, 1952, signed
by Katherine Barnes, Director Region #5, Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America, and an official welcome by
Lee Wilson Hoover, President of the Association.
Our Club celebrated its 50-year anniversary June 2002.
Currently our membership stands at 28 with many or our members retired but still supporting
our goals and purpose.
