Industry, manufacturing, and
construction often discard twisted and bent metal shapes
that find their way into some D. Lester Williams'
sculptures. He enjoys using one-of-a-kind material. These
shapes lend excitement to his works, and most often can not
be duplicated.
Williams originally studied
welding for the construction industry. Gradually he
transferred his interests to welding as an art. For thirty
years, D. Lester Williams has turned out a succession of
lively and humorous sculptures.
A California native, Williams
taught welding and metal sculpture for seven years at
Creative Arts
Group,
he served on the board for the Monrovia Arts Festival, and
has displayed his works at countless Southern California
Arts Shows.
Williams has been known for
letting nature rust some of his works as a finish. Currently
he is concentrating on doing large, painted outdoor
sculptures. Vibrant colors are painted on by brush. Brush
painting does take more time, but is better for the
environment. Williams resides in Arcadia, California, where
art welding is his full-time occupation.
