What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural, drug-free way to get healthy. Patients visit their chiropractor for many different
reasons, ear infections, digestive problems, asthma, back or neck pain, colds, headache, sciatica, neurological problems,
colic, bed-wetting, menstrual problems and many more conditions. People also visit their chiropractor for more energy, improved
sports performance, for feeling more alive, better resistance to disease and to help ensure drug-free lives for themselves
and their families. Chiropractors focus to remove a serious interference in your life and your health "the vertebral
subluxations" which prevent you from functioning at your best.
Your Examination
In addition to the consultation and case history, the examination is a vital tool to determine and differentiate
the changes that may have led to your health problems. In the examination, your Doctor of Chiropractic will do standard and
specialized chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological tests to determine your health care needs.
How Do Doctors of Chiropractic Adjust My Spine?
A spinal adjustment is a term for specific movement of vertebrae which have abnormal movement patterns. These
levels in the spinal column may cause interference with normal nerve supply. The adjustment is usually given by hand, applying
pressure or using various techniques to properly align areas of the spine that are out of proper alignment.
X-Rays
If x-rays are indicated they will be performed in accordance with your doctor's clinical judgement. The spinal
x-rays when analyzed by your doctor take on new meaning. They are viewed for more than pathology (disease) or facture; they
are viewed for normal and abnormal structural alignment. Static x-ray analysis coupled with a spinal motion examination result
in a better understanding of spinal biomechanics to determine subluxation complexes.
Your Report of Findings
After all the information has been processed on your health condition, your Doctor will explain your examination
and and x-ray findings and give you a treatment recommendation for your condition. Rehabilitation care is recommended which
includes a series of exercises specific for your condition and health care needs.
