The Effinger Ruritan Club, part of the Natural Bridge District of Ruritan National, was organized in 1947 and has been serving the Effinger school district community and southern Rockbridge County continuously for over 60 years.  The Club has provided community service through projects such as:  supporting food basket programs, providing schorlarships to high school seniors to allow them to pursue higher education, participating in the VDOT Adopt-A-Highway program, and providing scholarships for area youth to participate in 4-H and Nature Camp programs.

To accumulate the funds needed to carry out the Club's ambitious community service objectives each year, several large scale fund raisers have been organized and conducted by the Club members.  This fund raisers include a recently initiated annual farm equipment auction, the selling of community calendars, and an ice cream dinner, an annual highlight of the community social scene,
