I’ve Always Wanted a Polar Bear

By:

N.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Allie.  Allie always wanted a polar bear because she thought they were so cute, but she knew he would hurt her so she wanted a trained one.  She would name him is Po-Po, she even drew pictures of Po-Po.  It was a month before Christmas, and the only thing on her list was going to be a polar bear.  She would also write down that she wanted it to be a boy and its name to be Po-Po.  Allie made it all in caps so Santa Claus would know she really wanted a polar bear.  Then it was Christmas break and Allie had a sleepover with her best friend, her name was Lilly.

Lilly and Allie were in 9th grade and were 15 years old.  At the sleepover they did makeovers on each other, had pillow fights, and stayed up all night.  Allie got in trouble by her dad because he thought Allie needed more sleep.  Allie showed the pictures she drew of Po-Po to Lilly and Lilly thought they should go into a picture book about polar bears.

Allie thought they were really bad.  At 11:00 the next day Lilly went home so that left Allie with being very bored and lonely.  She had no one to play with because her little brother, Sam who was only three years old, was taking a nap.  All Allie’s other friends were Christmas shopping or busy.  So she started to eat lunch.  Allie had top ramen, she loved it oh so very much.  When she was done with her lunch her brother got up and she played with him for three hours.  Two weeks went by and it was December 24th

Allie put her Christmas list out for Santa Claus and she hung up her stocking and went to bed.  In the morning she woke up at 7:00 she ran downstairs and everyone was waiting for her.  She first looked through her stocking then opened her gifts.  Allie opened the biggest one last.  The biggest one was a kitten.  When she saw it was a kitten she saw a note.  The note said:

Dear Allie,

I know you wanted a polar bear but you can’t, you can’t because you would need a cold place put it.  Also there is no polar bear in the world that is trained.  Sorry that you didn’t get a polar bear, but hope you like the kitten!

Sincerely,

Santa Claus

Allie ran up to her room crying.  She locked the door so no one could talk to her.  The cat started scratching on the door so Allie let him in.  He started licking her so she picked him up and kissed him.  Allie named the little kitten Jellybean.  Allie loved Jellybean and Jellybean loved Allie, but Allie was still hoping for a polar bear in her life.  Allie wouldn’t let go of Jellybean because she loved him so much.  Allie finally went downstairs and saw all her relatives.

There were more presents that needed to be opened.  She got slippers, an acoustic guitar, a digital camera, and a makeup kit.  Then she got dressed and brushed her hair and put on the makeup she had got.  When Allie came downstairs she saw Lilly and her family.  Allie and Lilly hugged and then Lilly asked if she got a polar bear.  But sadly, Allie had to say no because she didn’t get one.  If Allie had said yes, Lilly would have wanted to see Po-Po.  When Lilly left Allie played Jingle Bells on her guitar.  She also sang while playing.  Allie didn’t know people were in the room.  To her surprise, when she was done playing everyone clapped!  Allie didn’t like people to listen to the music she played, so she ran upstairs to play other songs with the guitar book that she got with the guitar.

The next day was December 26th and Allie had to go to school because Christmas break was over.  Allie walked with Lilly.  Their school was named Tree Top High School.  The principal’s name is Mrs. Walker.  Everyone always liked her and she always smiled at everyone, even when she was talking to someone about a bad or unhappy thing.  She just kind of made a sad face.  Lilly was a blonde tomboy, who always wore dark green or orange hats.  She wore boy’s shorts, whatever the weather.  She got Cs, Ds, and Fs.(mostly Fs) Allie, on the other hand, got As and Bs. She wore jeans and skirts and dresses, never wears hats, and has light brown hair.  Hard to believe they are best friends when they are total opposites.

When Lilly is older and can get a job she wants to be a 9th grade teacher.  Allie wants to be a doctor.  Lilly wanted to start teaching at the age 19.  Allie wanted to start when she is 29.Then a year later Allie got a letter from her grandma who lived in New York City. It said:

Dear Allie,

I know you wanted a polar bear.  Well I got one for you, but you can’t have it.  It is in a place where they have a cold climate.  Here are some pictures, and I will tell you about him.  He is a boy and his name is Po-Po. Finally, he is only one month old.

Love,

Grandma

Allie was very happy when she was done reading the letter.  Then Allie was satisfied.  Allie became a doctor and Lilly became a Kindergarten teacher.  Everyone lived happily ever after.
