Meet Mr. Goliff
Mr. Goliff's Journal

I am looking forward to a fun and exciting season with our fifth grade girls basketball team.  This will be my second season coaching the girls team after coaching the boys team for six years.

I will have the following goals when working with our team.

·         Teach the fundamental skills necessary to play the game.

·         Teach the rules and strategies of the game.

·         Provide a safe and supportive environment for the athletes to enjoy the game.

·         Teach sportsmanship and consistently expect and reinforce appropriate behavior.

·         Provide an opportunity for everyone to play.

·         Mandate that academic and behavioral performances in school are requirements for the student to participate in the extra-curricular program.

To accomplish these goals, we will need your help.  Please spend some time discussing with your child your views on sportsmanship.  I am a firm believer that children’s greatest teachers are their parents.  So beyond discussing with your child your views of sportsmanship, when watching a game or practice, please model those behaviors we want to reinforce with our children.  While winning is a goal for every athlete, having fun and demonstrating sportsmanship must be our ultimate goal.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Enjoy the season and I look forward to seeing you at our basketball games!

Steve Goliff

Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, there will be no fifth grade basketbal teams this year.
