IFLS is the parent company of French Home Rentals. The company specializes
in the programs listed above. Since 1992, IFLS has received students from many
countries for French
language programmes and cooking packages. Many have come back several times. We hope that
you will find our programmes attractive and that we will have the pleasure of counting you
amonag our students one of these days.

As shown in the following 2000 pricelists, it is possible to stay in a
hotel, an individual rented house or apartment. You can also choose to stay in a host
family. We guarantee that you will have your own bedroom, but you may have to share a
bathroom.
The school is rather small with a maximum enrollment of 35. The student/teacher ratio is
around 8/1 or less. Our philosophy is that students are all different human beings and
teachers adapt to students, not the contrary. Our teaching enhances communication and
practical spoken aspects of the language.
Classes are held in small groups (5 to 10 students) in a friendly relaxed
atmosphere and combine conversation and grammar with experiential field activities
designed to help participants learn more about the community at IFLS and during the
programme. At the end, students receive a certificate
mentioning the level they reached and the number of hours of language training they
completed.
Our deadline for application is 2 weeks, but if we are to provide accommodation (homestay,
rented house or hotel) we may need more time than that, therefore, we suggest that you
apply as soon as possible in order to have a maximum of chances to get the type of
accommodation you wish.

I F L S PROGRAMMES
The IFLS offers language programmes that can be designed according to your specific needs.
IFLS offers both language classes and a range of services and opportunities to explore the
South of France in a personalized way. The staff at IFLS is commited to helping you
discover French culture
through experiential activities, field trips, contacts with local people, professionals,
artists, etc...

COOKING CLASSES
IFLS offers a cooking class for one week or two weeks.
*** Just like for the French programmes, you have cooking classes every morning (3 hours)
then you eat your "production", generally a 3 course meal.
*** These are HANDS-ON classes where students do things themselves under the direction of
the bilingual (English-French) teacher
*** Average of 4 to 8 students per class
*** Afternoons are free or you can take 2 hours of French.
*** Accommodation are the same as for French Immersion programmes : homestay, hotel,
rented home.
LOCATION of IFLS
IFLS is located in the center of Villeneuve sur Lot, a "Bastide" dating back to
the 13th century. Villeneuve is an active commercial town of 30,000 and it retains its old
world charm with its pedestrian streets, and central square where markets still take place
twice a week. It enjoys a mild climate most of the year, in a nice valley surrounded by
rolling hills. It is a very lush and green part of France. There are lots of ancient
castles, mansions many places of interest nearby such as the Dordogne region (prehistoric
caves, Lascaux), Toulouse, Bordeaux, and the wine region, Carcassonne, Albi, the Pyrenees,
the Basque region, the Atlantic coast and Spain...
Possible outdoor activities include horseback riding, canoeing, running and hicking,
bicycling, golf, tennis, etc... Lots of cultural events (outdoor concerts, theater,
festivals) take place in summer.

LODGING AND ACCOMMODATIONS
1- HOTEL / Pension
Single room with private bathroom, breakfast and dinner. The hotel is
located in the heart of town within an easy walking distance to the school.
2- HOMESTAY
Students are placed in carefully selected families either in the center or
the outskirts of Villeneuve sur Lot. They are on a half-board basis during
the week and full board basis during the week-end.
Host families are provided with lists of activities and sites to be visited
in the region.
Every effort is made to place only one participant per family.
3- INDIVIDUAL RENTED HOME
Individual houses around Villeneuve apartments in the center of town.
Larger homes can be used by families or shared by several students.
Should IFLS not be able to provide a participant with a type of
accommodation that (s)he selected, an alternative will be proposed.
* An appropriate literature is given to participats to help them discover
the area on their own.
* Participants who stay in a hotel or an individual home will have a chance
to spend some time with a local family for an evening or a day.
COOKING PACKAGES
Apart from the cooking programmes, the IFLS has designed 10 and 14 day
cooking programmes that combine sightseeing in Southwest France, a series
of hands-on cooking classes, diners in restaurants of various categories
and styles, visits to vinyards, cheese, plum and duck farms, lectures on
French culinary traditions etc..

DIRECTOR
Michel Tessel, a native of Villeneuve sur Lot has been involved in
international relations since he was a student. After creating French Home
Rentals in 1983, Michel realized the importance of foreign languages and
cross-cultural experiences. This led him to start the IFLS school for both
English for the local people and French for foreign visitors who have an
interest in French culture and language.
