Previous Convention Scenarios

This is an old page. I need to update it...

INTRODUCTION

Game Mastering, GMing, at a convention is different than GMing a game with your friends. For one thing TIME IS VERY SHORT. The game will last as long as the time limit. That is, four to twelve hours. No longer. You can't meet these player's next week to keep playing. Below are two games that I GMed at Kublacon and one at ConQuest.

GURPS WWII - Operation Asgard

1943 Radar detected a highflying plane over England and tracked it until it went down somewhere in South Eastern France. If this is an enemy super-long range bomber, then Downtown USA will be Hitler’s next target!

My "Twelve O'Clock" RPGs

From 1985 thru 1997 or so I was a regular attendee of  the B-17 multiplayer game "Raid Over Dunfey" during the old Pacificon. In '02 I was able to attend my first ConQuest and my first B-17 multiplayer game in years. It's now called "Target: Reich". The game is very easy to play and I cannot recommend it highly enough. While at Dundracon XXVII I got the idea of running a GURPS WWII game where the PCs are crewmembers of a downed B-17.

The PCs are members of a bomber crew that is part of the 918th Bomb Group (H) [H refers to Heavy]. The 918th is commanded by Brigadier General Frank Savage. This is the fictional unit and commander from the movie "Twelve O'Clock High."

Bomber Crews developed a relationship in which teamwork meant your life. Personality conflicts that could not be resolved during training resulted in a crew member being transferred to another crew. Individual gunner positions on a crew may be traded. The crew positions for a B-17F are: Pilot, Co-Pilot, Navigator, Bombardier, Flight Engineer/Top Turret Gunner, Radio Operator/Gunner, Port Waist Gunner, Right Waist Gunner, Ball Turret Gunner, and Tail Gunner. The Navigator and Bombardier also operated a single .50 caliber machine gun in the nose and two more in the "cheek" that is just to the rear and left and right of the nose position. It was not unusual for the gunners to switch positions sometimes during combat. The ball turret  is very cramped and exposed position in which the smallest gunner was assigned.

GURPS WWII - One of Our Bombers are Missing

Your bomber has been shot down. You and your surviving crew members must make you way back to England to fight again!

BAILOUT!

Essentially the same as "One of Our Bombers..." but with a twist.

THE GERMANS HAVE LANDED!... UH, HAVEN'T THEY?

DESCRIPTION -- as seen on the DunDraCon 28 website

Iceland, December 1942: Have the Nazis landed troops HERE? US patrols and some locals are missing. Army Intel is clueless. Iceland is very important to the war effort. So it’s up to the OSS meaning you to find and eliminate the threat.

One Final Note

I thought of putting details of these games, such what was the  adventure was about, my own notes of was really going and so forth. But for now, I decided to hold off and just include the descriptions that were found in a convention guide.
