Trying to Get Home
3:30 min, 2006
B&W and color reversal 16mm film

In Trying to Get Home, a brother and sister try to recollect an event from about ten years ago (not even the year is certain). She was 18 or 19 and he was 14 or 15. Their mother had recently become a flight attendant, so they were able to fly Stand-By for free. They decided to fly from Boise, ID to Portland, OR to have lunch. But the return flights were full so they couldn'get home. The film is a double narration of their stories. They were the only two there and they remember it differently. We believe the experience happened, but exactly how we will never know.
