Looking at the statue of Buddha
I think I see the marks
Left by the artist's chisel.
I cannot contemplate
The penetrating foresight
And the delicate strokes
Of wood on steel
That transformed a monolith
Of cold, unfeeling stone
Into this awe inspiring sight!
Deeply into my own being
I look with inward eyes
Seeking to find the peace
Depicted by this massive image
That sits before me
Smiling with a tantalizing
Twist to his fleshy lips.
I've read about Nirvana
But how can I achieve it
When I live in a world
That looks outward for
Guidance and not inward
As taught by Masters
Who passed this way
On their lonely journey
To reach deep inside the Universe?
Written by Dale E. Malone, Are
you in tune?
The Great & Wonderful Kahuna wants to know!
