Who is God?

RD> My, oh my, the more of this Flame Echo conversation I hear,
RD> the happier I am that I am not involved in any organized
RD> religion! The way I get the Bible is that Jesus taught
RD> us to love one another - not call each other "ignoramouses"
RD> and "slugs" on His behalf. And you wonder why we have such
RD> a sinful world!

We have a sinful world because it is perceived as sinful. Whatever you perceive as God, is not your own decision, it is likely drummed into you, and spoon fed you from an early age. Life is all about growing beyond your parent's superstition.

Life is all about progress, and change. Not worshiping the past as an alternative to exploring the rich variety and opportunity that the future offers. Only very small-spirited people worship the past, others explore their spirituality and their relationship with the universe and how to live in harmony with it.

Most of the unrest you see here is the direct action or the result of the direct action of one blind individual that is professing hell and calling it heaven.

A lot of people have jumped in to offer their own experience as a testament to our ability to grow in God (whatever your definition). One person, worships dead people and professes that he has gleaned the answer where others have failed, and then belittles anyone who differs from him. Not by showing them the error of their way, but by a pompous method of acting as the “Grand Wizer of the Inquisition,” and questioning us on whether we can offer proof of his interpretations.

Most of us have grown beyond him and his hellfire-damnation view of life. He calls himself a horrible wretch and tells us all we must grovel in the slime of the universe (this is quite a simplistic view of his diabolical ravings, but I will let it suffice).

I, for one, recognize my own godliness. That granted me by my Creator when I was created in His image, which I have learned to know, meant that I was given a mind to be able to think, and the ability to choose between right and wrong. Anyway, anyone who differs from The Bishop’s [self-appointed] narrow view is lambasted and treated to ugly epithets and offered every dismal verse that supports his view.

I personally have told him to take his bovine dumplings elsewhere, but this is his only outlet and we are his only audience. (He has a “church” out in the boondocks and brays before his mostly vacant benches, but that really is of no consequence, since he has only brought one soul to Jesus in a years time.)

Anyway, this is the FLAME Echo, and it is nice to be able to vent your pent-up anger and frustration (from whatever source) against him, since he is much like a blind mute that seems not to be affected by reality. It is his choice to rail at us, so it is our pleasure to offer him gems of wisdom (from whatever the source) and watch him trample them in his own inimitable style.
