Size: 78' x 8'
Constellation: Cygnus
RA: 20h 56.2m
Dec: +31

This image captures a portion of the Veil Nebula's eastern loop. The visible portions of this nebula span about 2.5 degrees of sky, and are the wispy remnants of a 40,000 year-old supernova explosion located about 1500 light-years from Earth. The radial velocity of this tenuous cloud of gas and dust is about 45 miles/second. Radio emissions from the Veil Nebula were first detected at Jodrell Bank in England.
