Year-Round Grounds Care Helpers

 

Help maintain Maine Audubon sanctuaries. Work involves (but not limited to) raking, weeding, mowing, trail work, gardening, and cutting bittersweet. One time or on-going commitments are welcome. 2008 Quarterly Trail work dates

February 23 – We will continue pruning old apple tress in the large field to enhance apple production fro wildlife. 9:00 – noon.

 

May 10 – This day is for “spring cleaning” trails, cutting trip roots, cutting back branches that weren’t cut last Fall etc. We will also be “spring cleaning” the memorial garden and making any other small repairs necessitated by the winter. 9:00 – noon.

 

June 28 – We’ll cut back vegetation along the trails and help maintain native habitat by removing nonnative bittersweet from the Sanctuary. 8:00 – 11:00 am.

 

October 4 – We’ll clean out bird boxes, apply wood preservative to bridges and benches, and make any needed repairs before winter. 9:00 – noon.
