At HILLHAVEN, our mission is to preserve the Australian Cattle Dog type originated by drovers and cattlemen
in Australia some 100 years ago through responsible breeding practices, and to provide owners with good-tempered, healthy
companions who fulfill their desires for a well-rounded dog. We will not compromise soundness, working ability nor temperament
for show ring success, yet we compete regularly in AKC conformation as well as herding events. Our line has been successful
in numerous venues: conformation, herding, agility, obedience and as pets and farm hands.

Our dogs are tested for genetic faults as much as possible, including OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America
hip and elbow assessment), DNA testing for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), BAER for auditory problems, and annual CERF
exams for eye health. Puppies are whelped in the house and are socialized to children and other dogs, BAER tested, PRA free,
crate-trained, leash-broken, have received their initial shots, been examined by a veterinarian and are accustomed to traveling
in an automobile before leaving our home at around 10 weeks of age.

The dogs are a way of life for us, a family avocation and passion. We are dedicated to our dogs, and they
get much of our free time and loads of affection. To ensure our puppies go to good homes, we screen prospective buyers, and
educate new owners. All pups are sold under contracts fashioned after those developed by the Minnesota Pure Bred Dog Breeders
Association.
We usually have a waiting list of prospective buyers, who customarily wait 12 to 18 months for a puppy.
We assess our pups to best match them with the requirements of the buyers.
We welcome your inquiries, and invite you to visit our kennel, located on the bluffs above the Mississippi
River, an hour and 15 minutes south of the Twin Cities.
